Creating Your Organization
An organization is your team's home on Shaep: its members, plan, settings, and everything you build. The code you work on lives in workspaces inside it; a workspace is one git repository with its editors, issues and CI (see Projects & Workspaces).
Prerequisites
You need a Shaep account. If you don't have one yet, follow the Sign Up guide first.
Create Your Organization
After signing up without an organization, you are asked to create one. You can create more later from Settings > Account > Organizations > New Organization. You can own at most two organizations.
- Name and URL. Enter a name; the URL name (slug, such as
my-company) is derived from it and can be edited before you continue. The slug is used in your apps' addresses and cannot be changed later. - Plan. Pick Starter, Basic or Team. Enterprise goes through sales.
- Card verification. A €0.01 card verification is charged. Your 14-day free trial starts when it clears, running on the limits of the plan you picked, and the plan starts automatically when the trial ends. Cancel before then (Settings > Subscription > Cancel Subscription) and you pay nothing further: the trial runs until its end date, then the organization is paused.
If you had a free trial before (with the same email address), the plan starts right away and the first month is charged at checkout.
Accept Pending Invites
If you've been invited to existing organizations, you'll see the invitations during onboarding. You can:
- Join — Join the organization and switch into it
- Decline — Remove the invitation
You can also manage invitations later from Settings > Account > Invites. An invitation must be accepted while signed in with the email address it was sent to, within 7 days.
Invite Team Members
Once your organization exists, owners and admins invite team members:
- Go to Settings > Members
- Click Invite Member
- Enter their email address and select a role:
- Owner — Everything, including the plan, the AI features switch and deleting the organization (only an owner can invite an owner)
- Admin — Members, credentials, most settings, payments and AI credit
- Contributor — Creates and changes workspaces, projects, deployments and editors
- User — Views the organization's resources and uses the platform's AI; cannot push code or deploy
- Viewer — Read-only access, and can file support tickets
- Click Send Invite
Each member takes a seat; your plan includes a limited number. See Organization Settings for roles and invitations in detail.
